The MaGiix Rumen Bolus is a magnetic RFID transponder which resides in the cow's reticulum, transmitting the animal's temperature and a unique ISO-ID number while collecting metallic objects to prevent hardware disease.

Temperature and ID are recorded automatically each time the animal walks past a reader; generally as cows enter or exit the milking parlor. Obtaining temperature data this frequently enables tracking physiologic cycles and early detection of sickness.

The bolus is administered using a standard balling gun. It requires no batteries, so provides lifetime, maintenance-free operation.
